As featured in the July/August 2003 issue of American Cowboy Magazine, Johnny Sundby is a self-employed photographer covering Western South Dakota and Eastern Wyoming. He was an award-winning photographer with the Rapid City Journal
(circ 35,000) for five years, and has also worked for the Associated Press
(Pierre, SD) and the Miles City (Montana) Star.
Johnny graduated Magna Cum Laude
from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD
with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration.
He photographed for the Augustana Mirror for four years and served as assistant editor and editor.

His first book, "In God's Country,
Photographs of the Black Hills and Badlands,"
has sold over 27,000 copies locally.

In 1995, Johnny was named
"Best Photographer in South Dakota"
by Eyes on You Magazine.

Johnny is a member of the South Dakota Professional Photographer's Association (SDPPA) and the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP).

Johnny most enjoys capturing the
landscapes and people of the West,
especially Cowboy and American Indian culture,
but also shoots photojournalistic assignments, products, commercial locations, and all types of protraiture including weddings and seniors.

He shoots Nikon and Mamiya equipment
and has a well-equipped and roomy studio
with digital transmission technology.
